Power Rankings update
Risers: Martin Odegaard is ending the season in brilliant fashion at Arsenal. In games against Chelsea and Newcastle he’s ensured this Arsenal team bounce back and it’s an exciting thought to think of him leading this team out in the Champions League next season.
It was also an excellent day at St James Park for Aaron Ramsdale. He’s been particularly excellent between the sticks away from home this season. In this game and at Anfield, he played a vital part in the four points Arsenal took from the games.
Fallers: Bukayo Saka is having a quiet end to the season. Hampered perhaps by an overload of minutes and the World Cup, but also William Saliba’s absence has clearly impacted how Arsenal have built on Saka’s side of the pitch. He’s spent most of 2023 on top of the rankings, but he’s slipped to his lowest yet place of 4th, still a brilliant ranking to be fair to him.
Thomas Partey was dropped for the Chelsea game but many expected him to come back in for the game against Newcastle. He didn’t and Arsenal did not miss him. Jorginho was brilliant and he’s now just one place behind him in the rankings. Partey has been as high as third in 2023, but now down to 10th and injuries making him unreliable, could Arsenal move on from Thomas in the summer?
